Purchase ships as they fly into the freighter’s docking bay to store them onboard. Players with freighters may own up to nine starships six of which will show up on the freighter (and can be switched with the remaining three using the quick menu). When on a planet, summon your freighter to your current system with the Quick Menu (Key X). Saving a Freighter from Pirates will make it cheaper. To buy a Freighter, board it and speak to the Captain. Freighter slots can be expanded to 60 tech and 120 cargo. One of them is reminiscent of the Venator Star Destroyer of the Star Wars universe. There are several regular freighters with up to 19 slots of inventory and two designs of small, medium, and large visual sizes for capital freighters with up to 34 slots. It also allows the player to access any of their owned starships on board. The freighter can warp to other star systems or be summoned to the orbit of the planet (or moon), where the player is currently located. Players can build a mobile base on the freighter, consisting of up to 16 floors of 21 x 21 rooms.

The first freighter you purchase in this manner will be offered to the player for free.

Players will gain a discount if they saved that freighter from pirates beforehand. Players can purchase a freighter from the bridge of said freighter by talking to the captain. A Freighter is a colossal interstellar starship much like a cross between a traditional ship and a space station.
